About Caleb Knodell

Caleb Knodell’s paintings are characterized by a combination of surreal figuration and abstraction. The paintings often exhibit particular color or mood backdrops with objective and nonobjective objects fluidly interacting in often funny, awkward, or argumentative ways.

Knodell was born in 1987 Poplar Bluff, Missouri. He has lived and studied internationally at Charles Cecil Studio’s in Italy and apprenticed with renowned artist Odd Nerdrum in Norway. Knodell received is BFA from Missouri State and MFA in Painting from Indiana University Bloomington where he currently lives and works. 


He has exhibited internationally in Spain at the European Museum of Modern Art and is included in publications such as Juxtapoz, Fine Art Connoisseur, and The Nerdrum School.
